How I Fixed My Bounce Rate by Rewriting One Paragraph

I cut my bounce rate from 78% to 41% with a single edit. Here's exactly what I changed and why it worked.

Last month I noticed my best-performing blog post had a 78% bounce rate. That hurt. People clicked, skimmed, and left. I spent hours on that article.

I tested one change: I rewrote the opening paragraph to state the exact problem the reader had — and promised a solution in 3 minutes. No fluff, no story about my cat. Just: “You’re here because X. Here’s how to fix it in under 5 steps.”

The result? Bounce rate dropped to 41%. Time on page doubled. That one paragraph acted like a contract: read this, get the answer. If you’re seeing high bounces, look at your first 100 words. That’s where you either hook or lose them.
