How I ranked my template store on page 1 in 14 days

A scrappy, no-budget SEO strategy that got my digital product site to page 1 for a high-intent keyword within two weeks.

Two weeks ago, my Notion template store was buried on page 4 for "minimalist project tracker." I didn't have a budget for ads or guest posts. So I did what any bootstrapped founder would do: I got surgical.

First, I rewrote the product page to match the searcher's exact language. Instead of "features," I used the same phrases my ideal customers typed into Google. I added a comparison table vs. other trackers – that alone earned two backlinks from productivity blogs.

Then I leveraged my existing audience. I emailed my tiny mailing list and asked them to share the page if they found it useful. Three people did. One was a writer who linked to it from a roundup post. That link, plus a few forum mentions, pushed my domain authority just enough.

Within 14 days, I hit #3 for that keyword. Traffic tripled, and I sold 12 templates in one week. The lesson: you don't need a massive budget – you need to understand intent and be willing to ask for the link.
